GCSE Weimar Germany Practice Test

The main idea is that Nazi policies aimed to boost the population by encouraging women to marry and have children. To achieve this, the regime offered financial incentives and social encouragement—things like loans for newly married couples, tax breaks, and propaganda that celebrated large families. Those measures translated into real demographic changes: more marriages took place, and more babies were born. By 1936, marriages had risen by about 21% and birth rates by over 30%, showing a clear impact of the policy package on the population.

The other statements don’t fit the pattern of that era. There was indeed change in marriages and births, not none; birth rates didn’t decline; and while some women did work, the regime promoted traditional roles and did not drive large-scale increases in female employment during this period, focusing more on fostering motherhood and family life.
